It's been a busy few months for us, and to celebrate, we've decided to launch a whole new website.

In May, we went to San Francisco to talk to our customers and meet with some of the leaders in the industry. The Open Data Definition, which we chair, attracted attention and sparked important debate over the future of data portability. We think it's an important topic that doesn't get enough attention. Allowing users to import and export their data promotes competition in the industry, resulting in better products that enhance the user experience. In the end, everybody benefits.

In August, we released Elgg 1.0, the most powerful open source social networking engine in the world. Infoworld named Elgg the world's best open source social networking platform, and since its release it has become the basis of thousands of social networks. With secure access permissions and Open Data Definition at its core, as well as four years of experience and deployment under its belt, we're extremely proud of it, and there's more to come.

Finally, the links we've established in Silicon Valley have led to the creation of an informal advisory board. We're proud to be able to take advantage of some of the web's leading thinkers in order to shape our products and direction: Biz Stone (Twitter, Odeo, Blogger, Xanga), Leonard Lin (Upcoming, Yahoo), Matt Fix (Vodafone, Intel), Sasan Salari (WebCT) and Stan Stanier (University of Brighton). Check out the About page to find out more.
